Apple Watch may launch in India in June July

Technology enthusiasts in India will have to wait longer to get their hands on the Apple Watch as the country does not feature in the nine countries chosen by the iconic brand to unveil its much-awaited smartwatch.
According to analysts, the Apple Watch may cost well over Rs 30,000 for the base model.

They are of the view that the watch is expected to hit market in July this year. However, a section of the market feels that considering the growing importance of India, the watch could see its India debut even in June.

Internationally, the watch is being made available for preview from April 10 in 9 countries including US, China, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and the UK.

The smartwatch will be up for purchase from April 24. The Cupertino-headquartered firm took the covers off its Apple Watch at an event in San Francisco yesterday, along with two other key announcements — a revamped MacBook range and a health-centred initiative 'ResearchKit.'

Launched in three variants (Apple Watch Sport, Apple Watch and Apple Watch Edition) and two sizes (38 mm and 42 mm), the Apple Watch will be priced between $349 (over Rs 21,800) to a whopping $17,000 (Rs 10.66 lakh) for the gold model.

The smartwatch would require iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 8.2 or higher versions.

Apple Watch Edition features cases specially crafted from custom rose or yellow 18-carat gold alloys, a Retina display protected by polished sapphire crystal and uniquely designed straps and bands with 18-carat gold clasps, buckles or pins.

Apple Watch is the first new product category to be launched under Cook, who took over the reins of the company after Steve Jobs stepped down.

This is also the first new device category since 2010, when Apple entered the tablet market with its iPad.

Apple Watch delivers up to 18-hour battery life and has digital face that can look like a traditional time piece.

According to the company, users will be able to make and receive calls, read e-mails, control music, manage Instagram photos and keep track of fitness using the smartwatch.

Changing user properties in linux

 Changing user properties

There are a few commands for changing various properties of an account (i.e., the relevant field in /etc/passwd):
chfn
Change the full name field.
chsh
Change the login shell.
passwd
Change the password.
The super-user may use these commands to change the properties of any account. Normal users can only change the properties of their own account. It may sometimes be necessary to disable these commands (with chmod) for normal users, for example in an environment with many novice users. Other tasks need to be done by hand. For example, to change the username, you need to edit /etc/passwd directly (with vipw, remember). Likewise, to add or remove the user to more groups, you need to edit /etc/group (with vigr). Such tasks tend to be rare, however, and should be done with caution: for example, if you change the username, e-mail will no longer reach the user, unless you also create a mail alias.

Notes

The user's name might change due to marriage, for example, and he might want to have his username reflect his new name.

Top 10 Blogging Tips for beginners.

Starting a blog could be one of the simplest ways to join the online community. Follow these tips to ensure your blog is positioned for success

1.  Define Your Goals

Before you start a new blog, it's essential that you define your goals for it. Your blog has a greater chance of success if you know from the beginning what you hope to accomplish with it. Are you trying to establish yourself as an expert in your field? Are you trying to promote your business? Are you simply blogging for fun and to share your ideas and opinions? Your short and long term goals for your blog are dependent on the reason why you're starting your blog. Think ahead to what you'd like to gain from your blog in six months, one year and three years. Then design, write and market your blog to meet those goals.

2.  Know Your Audience
Your blog's design and content should reflect the expectations of your audience. For example, if your intended audience is teenagers, the design and content would be quite different than a blog targeted to corporate professionals. Your audience will have inherent expectations for your blog. Don't confuse them but rather meet and exceed those expectations to gain reader loyalty.

3.  Be Consistent
Your blog is a brand. Just like popular brands such as Coke or Nike, your blog represents a specific message and image to your audience, which is your brand. Your blog's design and content should consistently communicate your blog's overall brand image and message. Being consistent allows you to meet your audience's expectations and create a secure place for them to visit again and again. That consistency will be rewarded with reader loyalty.

4.  Be Persistent
A busy blog is a useful blog. Blogs that are not updated frequently are perceived by their audiences as static web pages. The usefulness of blogs comes from their timeliness. While it's important not to publish meaningless posts else you may bore your audience, it's essential that you update your blog frequently. The best way to keep readers coming back is to always have something new (and meaningful) for them to see.

5.  Be Inviting
One of the most unique aspects of blogging is its social impact. Therefore, it's essential that your blog welcomes readers and invites them to join a two-way conversation. Ask your readers to leave comments by posing questions than respond to comments from your readers. Doing so will show your readers that you value them, and it will keep the conversation going. Continue the conversation by leaving comments on other blogs inviting new readers to visit your blog for more lively discussions. Your blog's success is partially dependent on your readers' loyalties to it. Make sure they understand how much you appreciate them by involving them and recognizing them through meaningful two-way conversation.

6.  Be Visible
Much of your blog's success relies on your efforts outside your blog. Those efforts include finding like-minded bloggers and commenting on their blogs, participating in social bookmarking through sites such as Digg and StumbleUpon, and joining social networking sites such as Facebook and LinkedIn. Blogging is not a demonstration of, "if you build it, they will come." Instead, developing a successful blog requires hard work by creating compelling content on your blog as well as working outside of your blog to promote it and develop a community around it.

7.  Take Risks
Beginner bloggers are often afraid of the new blogging tools and features available to them. Don't be afraid to take risks and try new things on your blog. From adding a new plug-in to holding your first blog contest, it's important that you keep your blog fresh by implementing changes that will enhance your blog. Alternatively, don't fall prey to every new bell and whistle that becomes available for your blog. Instead, review each potential enhancement in terms of how it will help you reach your goals for your blog and how your audience will respond to it.

8.  Ask for Help
Even the most experienced bloggers understand the blogosphere is an ever-changing place and no one knows everything there is to know about blogging. Most importantly, bloggers are part of a close-knit community, and the majority of bloggers understand that everyone is a beginner at some point. In fact, bloggers are some of the most approachable and helpful people you can find. Don't be afraid to reach out to fellow bloggers for help. Remember, the success of the blogosphere relies on networking, and most bloggers are always willing to expand their networks regardless of whether you're a beginner blogger or seasoned pro.

9.  Keep Learning
It seems like everyday there are new tools available to bloggers. The Internet changes quickly, and the blogosphere is not an exception to that rule. As you develop your blog, take the time to research new tools and features, and keep an eye on the latest news from the blogosphere. You never know when a new tool will roll out that can make your life easier or enhance your readers' experiences on your blog.

10.  Be Yourself
Remember, your blog is an extension of you and your brand, and your loyal readers will keep coming back to hear what you have to say. Inject your personality into your blog and adapt a consistent tone for your posts. Determine whether your blog and brand will be more effective with a corporate tone, a youthful tone or a snarky tone. Then stay consistent with that tone in all your blog communications. People don't read blogs simply to get the news. They could read a newspaper for news reports. Instead, people read blogs to get bloggers' opinions on the news, the world, life and more. Don't blog like a reporter. Blog like you're having a conversation with each of your readers. Blog from your heart.

Gmail's Top Nine Hidden Features you must know

Almost all of us have a Google account, but very few of us have any idea how we can use many of its hidden features. It is time you use your Gmail like a boss. Here are 9 tips you can use to make your email experience better.

1. Handling spam in Gmail

Did you know that the dots within your Gmail address have no significance?

So if your address is tyler.durden@gmail.com, it means that any emails which are sent to tylerdurden@gmail.com, or t.ylerdurden@gmail.com, or even t.y.l.e.r.d.u.r.d.e.n@gmail.com will also land in your inbox.
So, what's the use of this 'Gmail glitch'? Well, you can use it to set up filter rules for your internet subscription services or one-time online registrations.

For example, if you do not want to provide your real email address to sign up for an online service, simply use an alias like t.ylerdurden@gmail.com and then create an email filter to delete all messages that come to this ID.

2. Sorting through email subscriptions

If you want to create a filter for your various internet subscriptions, you can use the '+' feature.

Say you want to subscribe to a newsletter from The Onion, you can use tyler.durden+theonion@gmail.com. The newsletters will still come to your inbox, but you can now use 'theonion' as a keyword to search for all your tagged emails, and even set filters.

3. Managing contacts

Did you know that you can have your smartphone contacts synced automatically with your Google account?

In effect, you will only need to maintain the 'Contacts' on Gmail for your whole address book to be updated on your smartphone and tablet where you've signed-in with your ID.

4. To sync your contacts
On an Android device, go to Settings > Add Account > Google and follow the steps to add your ID.

After this, every time you add a new contact, make sure you it is added to your Google account and not saved locally to your smartphone.

After you save the number to your Google ID, it will be synced to your Gmail address book and will be reflected on all other devices that have the same account.

Similarly, you can sync contacts on iOS, Windows Phone and BlackBerry devices, though the steps will differ slightly.

5. Google 18
Click Gmail in the top left corner, choose Contacts, then More > Find & Merge Contacts. You will get a list of all the double entries in your address book. Choose the ones you would like to combine and click Merge.

6. Restore addresses
When you delete contacts from your mobile device, they will be removed from your Google account as well. But you can still recover them within 30 days of deleting.

Go to Contacts, click More > Restore contacts. Choose the time you would like to revert to, and click Restore.

7. To create an email filter
Click on the gear symbol in the top right corner of your Gmail inbox, then, go to Settings > Filter tab > Create a new filter. Choose your criteria (From, To, Includes the words, Has attachment etc) for the filter.

Click Create Filter with this search and you can then choose an action like Skip the Inbox (Archive it), Apply the Label, Delete It and more.

There! Now, all your emails will be sorted and dealt with according to the filter actions you have chosen.

8. Labs
Programmers at Google have created experimental stuff that can do wonders for your email experience. For example, you could use a Labs option called Right-side chat to move your chat list from the left pane to the other side.

Other interesting projects include Preview Pane that provides users with a panel that allows you to read an e-mail as soon as your click on it; Multiple Inboxes, which creates different panes for your filtered messages; and Authentication icon for verified senders that display a key next to authenticated messages from certain senders that spammers attempt to impersonate.

To access Labs, click on the gear symbol on the top right corner, then go to Settings > Labs tab.

9. Managing your dates
Using your Google ID you can create a planner using its calendar feature at calendar.google.com. Here, you can add and view events and meetings you have scheduled by day, week, month, or as an easy-to-read list of your daily agenda.

You can create calendars and share them with friends by email. Similarly, you can access a friend's shared calendar. This service can be viewed and edited on your smartphone as well. Just make sure that the calendar, in your Google account, has been configured to sync with your device.

Moreover, you can also access your Calendar from within Gmail. Click the gear icon in the top right corner, click Settings > Labs > Google Calendar gadget, select the Enable radio button and click Save Changes.

Now, you can keep a tab on upcoming events while you are going through your inbox. You can quickly add events from here itself and also add more functionality by clicking on Options.

Night vision camera for your mobiles.

This new device will turn your mobile's camera into night vision camera. It is a thermal sensing module that very easily fits inside your mobile phone. The device is developed by California-based Seek Thermal.

The Seek Thermal works in conjunction with an app that allows the user to switch between normal and thermal imaging mode with a swipe. It offers four different temperature measurement modes, can automatically highlight objects in an image within a predefined temperature range, and has a choice of nine different color palettes.

The Seek camera works in daylight or at night, basically in any light level, because it doesn't need visual light. Instead, it picks up the infrared waves that everything -- whether it's living or not -- emits. We can't see those waves with our naked eyes, so Seek turns those waves into a visual image, using color. Those IR waves can be used to determine temperature variations around you, so the colors you see with the Seek correspond to different temperatures around you. The effect is really neat to look at, and useful for seeing things normally hidden from our sight.

Applications:
Seek Thermal sees a number of applications for the camera such as improving security by detecting people and animals in the dark; helping around the house by locating leaky doors and windows, poor insulation, wall studs, and pipes; and enhancing recreation by seeing game at night or objects on the water in the dark while boating. It can even help at the bbq by making sure that the charcoal bed is heating evenly or checking the surface temperature of food.

Pros: light weight (just 14gms) easy to carry around.
Can detects the temperature variations of anything around you.
Cons: expensive

Charge your Phone Wirelessly.

Charge your device without connecting it to charger
Technology trends are moving towards a completely wireless and mobile world, and our device chargers are followed the suit.

Now you can wirelessly charge compatible devices simply by placing them on a wireless charging accessory or pads. With a single connection to the outlet, you can keep the area free of tangled power cords.

How it works:
Wireless chargers use an induction coil to create an alternating electromagnetic field from within a charging base , and a second induction coil in the portable device takes power from the electromagnetic field and converts it back into electrical current to charge the battery. The two induction coils should be in proximity combine to form an electrical transformer. Greater distances between sender and receiver coils can be achieved when the inductive charging system uses resonant inductive coupling. Recent improvements to this resonant system include using a movable transmission coil ie. mounted on an elevating platform or arm, and the use of advanced materials for the receiver coil made of silver plated copper or sometimes aluminium to minimize weight and decrease resistance due to the skin effect.
wireless chargers are capable of charging smartphones, tablets, Bluetooth head sets, cameras and portable power packs. Though your handsets should be compatible to wireless chargers.

Comparing traditional chargers it is has advantage and some disadvantages .

Advantages:

1. Greater convenience and ubiquity for charging of everyday devices.
2. There is significantly less wear and tear on the socket of the device and the attaching cable.
3. Prevent corrosion from water or oxygen in the atmosphere.

Disadvantages:

1. Lower efficiency, waste heat – The main disadvantages of inductive charging are its lower efficiency and increased resistive heating in comparison to direct contact.

2. Consumes more power to charge the mobile. devices can take longer to charge when supplied power is the same amount

Newer approaches reduce transfer losses through the use of ultra thin coils, higher frequencies, and optimized drive electronics. This results in more efficient and compact chargers and receivers, facilitating their integration into mobile devices or batteries with minimal changes required.[3][4] These technologies provide charging times comparable to wired approaches, and they are rapidly finding their way into mobile devices.
